Embark on a Time-Bending Adventure with Your Favorite Brothers!
The Genesis of a New Animated Journey
Disney Branded Television has officially given the green light for a third 'Phineas and Ferb' movie. Production is slated to commence later this year, with plans for the film's release on both the Disney+ streaming platform and the linear Disney Channel.
A Perilous Plot: The Brothers' Existence at Stake
Co-creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh have crafted a compelling time-travel narrative for the upcoming film. In this new story, Dr. Doofenshmirtz's latest experiment inadvertently jeopardizes the very foundation of Phineas and Ferb's brotherhood, threatening to erase their shared history.
The Return of Beloved Voices
The original ensemble of voice actors will reprise their iconic roles, ensuring continuity and familiarity for long-time fans. Vincent Martella returns as Phineas Flynn, joined by David Errigo Jr. as Ferb Fletcher, Ashley Tisdale as Candace Flynn, and Caroline Rhea as Linda Flynn-Fletcher. Alyson Stoner, Maulik Pancholy, Bobby Gaylor, and Dee Bradley Baker also return as Isabella Garcia-Shapiro, Baljeet, Buford, and Perry the Platypus, respectively. Co-creators Povenmire and Marsh will once again lend their voices to Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz and Major Francis Monogram.
Creative Minds Behind the Magic
Beyond the returning voice talent, the film boasts a strong creative team. Kate Kondell and Jeff Howard are credited as writers, while Bob Bowen will direct. Brandi Young takes on the role of producer, ensuring a cohesive and engaging production.
A Legacy of Imagination and Humor Continues
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the show's core values of imagination, heart, and humor. She emphasized that the new movie will allow the creators to expand the 'Phineas and Ferb' universe even further, exploring new possibilities when established norms are challenged.
The Enduring Popularity of 'Phineas and Ferb'
'Phineas and Ferb' has a proven track record of success, having previously released two highly acclaimed movies: 'Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension' (2011) and 'Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe' (2020). The franchise also saw a significant resurgence last year with a 40-episode revival, which garnered critical praise and strong viewership, ranking among Nielsen's Streaming Top 10 with nearly 600 million minutes viewed.
New Content and Exciting Guest Appearances
The expansion of the 'Phineas and Ferb' universe extends beyond the new movie. A series of eight new shorts titled 'Agent P Under C' will debut on Disney+, Disney Channel, and Disney Channel Animation YouTube, following Perry the Platypus on a new undercover mission. Additionally, upcoming episodes of the main series will feature guest stars such as Meghan Trainor, Anna Faris, Cristo Fernández, Megan Rapinoe, and Iain Stirling. Meghan Trainor will appear in the special 22-minute episode "Vendpocalypse The Musical" as "Vending Machine Prime."
A Multi-Platform Phenomenon
The enduring appeal of 'Phineas and Ferb' is evident in its numerous accolades, including five Emmy Awards, and its status as Disney Television Animation's most successful animated series for kids aged 6-11 and tweens aged 9-14. The franchise has evolved into a global phenomenon, encompassing live tours, junior novels, merchandise, video games, and more. All four original seasons and previous films are currently available for streaming on Disney+, collectively amassing 12.8 billion hours watched across linear and streaming platforms since the franchise's inception.
