Free Summer Meals Program for Kids Under 18 in Caldwell and Wilder

Instructions

Two YMCA locations in the Treasure Valley are offering a free meals program for children under 18 during summer breaks. The initiative aims to provide nutritious breakfasts and lunches to ensure young people's well-being while schools are closed. These meal services operate without the need for registration or income verification, making them accessible to all local families.

The program is designed to support youth development by fostering health and community involvement. It offers meals at designated times and locations, emphasizing the importance of nutrition during school holidays.

Nutritious Meal Services in Caldwell

In Caldwell, the YMCA facility provides daily breakfast and lunch services from Monday through Friday. This service operates with the intention of supporting the growth and health of children within the community. Children must be present to receive meals, which should be consumed on-site.

At the Caldwell YMCA, located at 3720 S. Indiana Ave., meals are served with breakfast available between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., followed by lunch from noon until 1 p.m. The program highlights the organization's commitment to creating a welcoming environment where every child feels valued and supported. By ensuring access to healthy meals, the YMCA contributes significantly to maintaining the physical and emotional well-being of young individuals during their time away from school.

Meal Distribution at Wilder Y Kids

The Wilder Y Kids site also participates in the summer meals initiative. Breakfast and lunch are provided here, allowing flexibility for off-site consumption. This location ensures that nutritional needs are met even when children cannot remain at the distribution point.

At the Wilder Y Kids location, found near the park opposite the Mercer building adjacent to Wilder Elementary School, breakfast is served from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and lunch is offered from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. Unlike the Caldwell site, food may be taken off-premises, providing convenience for families who require it. This aspect of the program demonstrates adaptability to different family circumstances while still promoting overall health and welfare among participants. Both sites embody the YMCA's mission to offer a supportive atmosphere for every child and family involved.
